BARBARIANS AND THE BIRTH OF CHINESE IDENTITY is a well crafted novel written and illustrated by Jing Liu. The writer in descriptive fashion brings together the importance of the ten Chinese dynasty’s and the influence they have had on the Chinese culture. Throughout the novel the writer expresses the intelligent inventions created through this time of sometimes barbaric clashes within China. Paper currency and even gun powder were invented during these times in China and change the course of many battles as well as the culture.
