Fierce Kingdom, is a tense thriller by Gin Phillips that traces a mother and child’s visit to the zoo. What should be an innocuous outing turns into terror as Joan tries to exit the zoo and take her 4 year old, Lincoln, home.
Those pops she’d heard in the distance turns out to be gunfire. There are crumpled bodies everywhere and a gunman making his way around the zoo. Joan’s instinct is to run, and to protect her child.
Joan and Lincoln’s ordeal lasts 3 hours and 10 minutes and the book is written as a real-time narrative of what goes on in Joan’s head as she and others trapped in the zoo try to outsmart a gunman hunting his human prey.
